Where are my notes stored?

By default, in ~/Writer as plain files.

How do I back up or sync?

Because your notes are files, you can use Time Machine, iCloud, Dropbox, Git, or any sync tool you trust.

Why can’t I save outside the root folder?

File operations are restricted to the notes root directory to prevent accidental edits outside your vault.

How do images work?

Drag & drop copies images into ~/Writer/image/ and inserts embeds like ![[image/<file>]].

AI troubleshooting

AI writing is optional. Add your OpenRouter API key in Settings, where it is stored locally.
